Allison Chinchar works as a weather forecaster for CNN as well as HLN. She is often featured for CNN's HLN Weekend Express and CNN International's HLN New Day Weekend. She worked as an in-house meteorologist at local stations at Atlanta, Nashville and Chattanooga prior to she joined CNN. Her coverage has included everything from hurricanes, blizzards flood events, wildfires, receiving the Emmy nomination in recognition of her reporting of Hurricane Dorian that hit the Bahamas in 2019. The coverage she provided of the Super Tornado Outbreak of April 2011, in which over 350 tornadoes were recorded in the Southeastern United States over a time period of four days, 200 happening on April 27, was also nominated for an Emmy. Due to her experience in environmental sciences, she's also covered volcanoes, earthquakes and natural disasters and the stories of climate change. Chinchar is a graduate of the Bachelor's program of Atmospheric Science, which she earned from The Ohio State University. Chinchar is also a part of the American Meteorological Society, the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society as well as the National Weather Association, and the International Association of Broadcast Meteorology.
